What is South-South Leather Industry Exchange?

The South-South Leather Industry Exchange is a virtual forum between Leather Associations in East Africa and their counterparts in the Horn of Africa. The forum aims to facilitate sharing information and best practices in advocacy and to promote establishment of business linkages between leather entrepreneurs and and prosperity leather industries in the two regions.

The SSLIE initiative is one of the key components under the Leather Industry Network (LIN) Platform project that the Center for Business Innovation & Training (CBiT) is undertaking in collaboration with a consortium of national leather Associations in EAC with the support of GIZ-EAC and GFA Consulting Group.

The Project aims to foster integration through trade and to shape the region’s development agenda by using digital networking as a strategic tool in harnessing the potential of private sector leather players. Among the key objectives of the project is building the capacity of East Africa Leather Associations to influence policies that promote the realization of favourable leather industry framework conditions.
